You can use PolarShot to take screenshots of whatever is on your screen. You can capture the entire screen or a certain rectangular region of the screen. The screenshot can be saved locally as a graphics format and it can be edited with your system’s default image editor.

PolarShot is a portable application. This means that you will not have to go through an installation process to start using the application. All you have to do is download an executable and run it. You can take the PolarShot executable, put it on a portable storage device, and take the application with you.

The system requirements for running PolarShot are: Windows XP SP3 or newer, .NET Framework 4.0 or newer.

PolarShot has a transparent interface that is quite easy to figure out – buttons to take a screenshot are presented in the upper right hand side, alongside a zoom in slider; the main panel displays a preview of what the application will capture. It must be mentioned here that the interface has an “always on top” behavior.

You can use PolarShot to capture the entire desktop or just a rectangular region of the desktop. After PolarShot takes the screenshot, it will invite you to store it in the location of your choosing. After the screenshot is saved, PolarShot will ask you if you want to edit it. Click “yes” and the screenshot will be opened with your system’s default image editor.

PolarShot is free software.

Easily take screenshots with PolarShot, a free, lightweight and portable application for Windows-powered PCs.

Pros

PolarShot is portable; the application does not have to be installed. PolarShot has an easy to use interface. Take a screenshot of the entire screen or of a rectangular region with this application. PolarShot is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
